Day 01: Mandalay – Pyin Oo Lwin
After breakfast at your hotel, our guide will pick you up and drive to Pyin-Oo- Lwin by car (1½ hr drive). Pyin-Oo-Lwin (once Maymyo) was named in the colonial era after Colonel May, a British officer in the Bengal Infantry who was stationed at this hill station in 1887 in order to suppress a rebellion which flared after annexation of Upper Myanmar to India. Pyin Oo Lwin is a popular hill station of the British during colonial days in Myanmar. Pyin Oo Lwin impresses with its many churches, colonial buildings with gables, turrets and chimneys etc. While you are in Maymyo you will use these horse-drawn royal carriages which still play major role in transport means for your day transport mean. It will be a worthwhile to visit botanical garden of 432 acres “laid out by Sir Harcourt Butler, former Governor of Burma” to study a conservation of diverse botanical species around the world. Visit enchanting Maymyo market with their multicolor flowers and vegetables. Overnight at hotel in Pyin Oo Lwin.
Day 02: Pyin Oo Lwin – Gokehteik Via-Duct Slow train Ride - Hsipaw
After Breakfast and get ready for your adventure “train ride”. Drive to Naung Cho Station to catch the train before 10:00 am. Take the train from Naung Cho around 10:30 to experience the train ride to pass the famous Gokehteik Viaduct. Alight from Naung Pain Station around 12:30 hrs and continue to Hsipaw by car (approx. 2 hours drive). Before arriving to the downtown, you can visit famous Hsipaw Bawgyo Paya. Then, transfer to your hotel in Hsipaw and check in. In the late afternoon, visit Hsipaw city tour with your guide and if you have a chance, you can enjoy sunset at Theintaung Pagoda and transfer back to your hotel. Overnight at hotel in Hsipaw.
Day 03: Hsipaw – Dakhtawaddy River boat trip – Hsipaw (Breakfast – Light Lunch)
Mostly on flat terrain and trek duration is adjustable.
Elder trekkers should have walking practice in advance.
After breakfast, walk through the rice field, swim at Nam Tok Fall, walk back to farmer’s village, enjoy the country panoramic scenery, learn living style of Shan villages. Have Shan Rice Noodle at tiny local village. Afterwards, continue an hour by boat up streaming river, through nice scenery with the mountain, valley, plantations along the river in the famous Dokehtawaddy River’s origin lays. Dokhtawaddy river is a formation of Namtu River and Thein Ni River that flow from Shan Plateau. Firstly, 1 hour boat ride upstream the river with nice sceneary with mountains and valleys and fruit plantations along the river. Take the opportunity to stop the boat ride for a short trek up the hill through fruit plantations (approx. 45 min) to visit old Tai (Shan) Monastery which is 150 years old, sitting alone and isolated in the forest. Pass through the plantations of pineapple, papaya, orange which are widely grown along the way to the monastery. Visit the monastery and return to jetty again to continue your boat ride to the river confluence. If you fancy a dip in the river – here you can refresh with a swim (if you wish, you need to bring swimwear with you). On the way back, visit a Shan village with typical houses with small, yet charming gardens. Return to your hotel in the late afternoon and relax at your hotel. Overnight at hotel in Hsipaw.
Day 04: Hsipaw – Mandalay transfer
After breakfast, check out from the hotel around lunch time and transfer back to Mandalay (5-6 hrs). Transfer to your hotel in Mandalay. (For Mandalay, accommodation is not included).
