Depart for an excursion around Mandalay to explore the former capitals of Ava, Sagaing and Amarapura.
Drive to Sagaing, covered with 600 white-painted pagodas and monasteries, Sagaing hill is widely regarded as the religious centre of Myanmar and is home of 6000 monks and nun, 100 meditation centers. On your way visit Sagaing market,a typical Burmese market that few tourists visit. You will find a range of items for sale including locally made pottery, silver and other handicrafts. Sagaing become the capital of independence of Shan around 1315 after fall of Bagan.Visit Sooon U Ponya Shin & Umin Thounzeh cave temple with multitude of seated Buddha statues. Continue to Ava.

Ava is located on an island which can be reached by local ferry, crossing the Myitnge River. Pass through the ancient city walls by horse cart and see the remains of the ancient city: the brick and stucco monastery “Maha Aungmye Bonzan”, the renovated Nanmyin Watch Tower and the impressive wooden monastery of Bagaya Kyaung constructed with 267 teak pillars. The abbot of Bagaya Kyaung monastery used one part of the property as monastic school for children far and near. Continue to villages to see the workshop of Monk’s arms-bowl.
Enjoy fantastic sunset view from the 200 year old U Bein teak bridge span across Thaungthaman Lake at the time when Amarapura was Royal capital. Return to Mandalay.
